 Data protection and privacy

Vocational College Spesia takes the privacy of people seriously in all activities. Because of this, we pay special attention to the careful and safe processing of personal data.

As we process personal data, we comply with legislation and follow good data management and processing practices with care. We make sure not to breach the privacy protection or other basic rights of our students, customers and personnel.

What is data protection?

Everyone has the right to have their personal data protected. Data protection is a basic right that protects the realisation of the rights and freedoms of data subjects in the processing of their personal data. The purpose of data protection is to express when and under what conditions personal data can be processed. The processing of personal data must always be based on the law.

Personal data is all data related to an identified natural person or a natural person that can be identified.

Personal data can be stored in, for example, digital files, databases, paper, card indexes, folders or audio or photo records.

A data subject is the person to whom the personal data refers.

A data controller is the person, company, authority or community who defines the purposes and methods of processing personal data.

A data processor is a party independent of the data controller who processes personal data on behalf of the data controller.

Privacy policies

The principles of processing personal data and our public privacy policies are available in Finnish on Spesia’s website under Spesia > Tietosuoja.
